Everyone loves homemade bread!!
Specially when you crave to have that same taste of food what your mom cooks......you should go for homemade versions!!
It's fun to cook something new for the family and when its a hit you get to wear the crown :)
I like a lot to experiment with food, specially to try new food....do alterations and see how the taste varies and how much it is liked by family or else go back to the original version. That's safe!! :P
Recently, I tried making Naan at home...Butter Naan with a twist of Mint and Garlic on top. Turned out to be good and a hit too!! So obviously I got the crown :)
I usually try my best to make food less oily, buttery, spicy and salty and also use most of the multigrain flour but to get that exact restaurant taste and style sometime u need to put in an extra spoon of oil or butter or little more chili powder :D
Try this recipe of Mint Garlic Butter Naan and see how it works for you.

Try this recipe of Mint Garlic Butter Naan and see how it works for you.
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Maida / All Purpose Flour
- 2 Cups Wheat Flour
- 1/4 Cup Warm Water
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tbsp Active Dry Yeast
- 1/4 Cup Warm Milk
- 1/4 Cup Thick Yogurt
- 1/4 Cup Salted Butter
- 1/4 Cup Mint Chopped
- 1/4 Cup Garlic Minced
- 1/4 Cup Cilantro Chopped
Method:
- In a cup add yeast, salt, sugar and warm water. Mix well. Cover and keep for 7 mins.
- The yeast mixture will become frothy.
- In a mixing bowl, add Maida,Wheat flour and mix well to form a dough with the yeast mixture. You can use the dough hooks of mixer.
- To this add little by little warm milk and yogurt, alternating between each other, and form a nice dough ball. This dough might be sticky but do not worry.
- Cover this and keep aside for 40 mins to 1 hr.
- Make dough balls to roll out naan.
- On a flat surface, apply little butter and with a rolling pin, roll out naan out of each dough ball.Make sure the dough ball is not too big nor thin.
- Apply butter to this rolled out naan and place on hot skillet.
- Cover the skillet and cook for 1 min.
- Now hold the naan with the spatula and with other hand sprinkle little garlic, mint leaves and cilantro on skillet. Turnover and place the naan over this mixture and cover the skillet and cook for 1 min.
- If you wish, you can still cook the naan for some more time.
- Serve hot with gravy or any curry of your choice.
Tips:
- When cooking naan , do not try to press naan with spatula or it wont puff and will look like chapati.
- I used salted butter to apply as the salt content in naan dough was very less i.e. 1 Tsp which I used to make yeast mixture. So possibly naan would turn out tasteless. If you do not wish to use the salted butter the you can add some salt when making dough.
- When rolling naan, make sure the thickness of rolled naan should not be too thin nor thick.
